Stroke Association

The cheque was presented on Friday August 26th, during the Summer Cup presentations, to Sarah Andrews - Team Leader, Community Stroke Service at Wye Valley NHS Trust, by Roger Eames. The charity was proposed by Roger on behalf of Military 'D' in memory of Phil Speak, a player of Military 'D', who unfortuntely passed away from a stroke in 2021.

Sarah thanked the League for the generous donation and explained that it would be ringfenced to assist those people who required assistance following a stroke.

Hereford Skittle League

It is with enormous gratitude that I write to thank everybody from Hereford Skittle League for your wonderful donation of £1400 raised throughout the season. I understand this donation is to benefit the Stroke Unit at Hereford County Hospital.

"Why does the NHS need charitable donations?"

In Herefordshire's case, because we have an ever-increasing rural, ageing population that means we have a varied group of patients with a wide variety of reasons for needing to visit, meaning there are additional items that we would ideally like to be able to offer, but realistically can't.

We have a charitable fund to enable the County Hospital and community hospitals to purchase non-essential equipment or training to enhance the patient experiience. Monies donated to speific departments are ring-fenced and cannot be spent elsewhere in the Trust.

Without generous donations from the local community, our hospitals would not be able to purchase additional eqiuipment. This of course makes such a big difference to the patients of Herefordshire and surrounding counties who are treated at the County Hospital and community hospitals.

On behalf of everybody at the Trust, thank you, we are very grateful.

Kind Regards
