Evans S C
Originating as workers from Evans Cider Works which were based on Widemarsh Common. Originally established in Blueschool Street circa 1850 and sold to Sir William Chave (Chemist) in 1884. He moved the business to the Widemarsh location in 1891. Evans was sold to Webbs of Aberbeeg in 1946 and then to H P Bulmer in the early 1960's.
The team formed in 1936 and first played in the Licensed Victuallers League finishing bottom of the league in the first season. They joined the Hereford Skittle League in 1946 playing at the Railway Inn. Playing at the Newtown Inn in 1960 moved to the Golden Lion in season 1971 before moving back to the Railway Inn from 1975/76 which became the Antelope until the end of season 1996/97. Then they played at the Buckingham until the end of season 2004/05 when they moved to the Volunteer, Harold Street.
They won the Division 1 title for the thirteenth time in 2019, at the time equalling Tattibogoes and just one short of Bartonsham 'B' record. Moved to the Brewers Arms in January 2023 due to the Volunteer being closed Monday to Thursday and unable to play home cup matches on a Wednesday. Moved back to the Volunteer in September 2023 when it reopened.
